In 1990, in a small leased warehouse (Climadis building, Mercamadrid) we started our import activity by the name MADRIMPORT, S.L., being a joint venture made up of four wholesale fruit distribution companies. For it we had to outsource that part of the operation. These are intense years of operations in Europe and America, especially with France, Italy, Chile and Argentina.

Being fully operational and with his consolidated activity, the company establishes itself in a new, more suitable warehouse (Ibérica building). During this decade, relationships with many countries in the southern hemisphere were consolidated, such as Peru, a country in which MADRIMPORT, S.L. is a pioneer importing asparagus and grapes.

We launched our own brand «Beso», especially identified with asparagus. It is a period of expansion and we make the first purchases in China and South Africa, establishing this second as one of our main origins in the import of citrus.

Finally, the company is composed of the Niqui brothers in partnership with Ibérica Goup. A strong investment is made to acquire new facilities, this time in a totally independent building sited in Mercamadrid, the largest fresh food distribution and logistics platform in Spain.

After a few changes in the Council, Javier Niqui, current CEO of the company, acquired the participation of the rest of his brothers, beginning the transition process to a professional frame.

In our constant determination to offering the best fruits and vegetables, we explore and establish market with Poland, currently the first european apples producer.

FRUTAS NIQUI MADRID, S.A. is incorporated and the acquisition of the wholesale positions in warehouse “D” increases our volumes and optimizes the use of synergies to diversify our target customers.

Prioritizing environmental responsibility and contributing to our bit to brake climate change, we managed to reduce CO2 emissions by 65 tons per year (equivalent to taking 20 cars off the road), thanks to our own photovoltaic plant installation, being pioneers in Mercamadrid.

Expanding the current CSR, Frutas Niqui Foundation is established and it start social nature works in various areas. Niqui Group assigns through the Foundation a part of its profits to help and improve our society.
